Michael Hawthome of the Chicago Tribute stated in his article that the BP Whiting refinery gets break on dumping on the lake. He is accusing BP oil refinery that the water that is being dump in Lake Michigan is toxic. According to him, polluted water including the sludge goes to the Lake.
Hawthome left misleading statements which that the the BP meet the federal water pollution guidelines yet the federal states acknoledge that toxic waste is being dump. His opinion is highly biased and must be scrutinized. He based his statements on his own selfish or pricipled opinion.
While in BP Fact Sheet, it is stated that treated water will be dump which meet the federal water pollution requirements. And the sludge which Hawthome misunderstood will be separately dealt. The water and sludge are different entity. If it meets the federal requirements then there’s nothing wrong about it.
BP also is not harmful to the people an to the environment because BP is very cooperative in working with the federal, state, and local government officials. They are cooperative also to the environmental organizations. This means BP is transparent in doing business which Hawthome should know.
BP also will produce a lot of jobs in the future. Which will help the economy of the surroundings. It is really easy to make judgment and to write something without the fact, and Chicago Tribune is wrong.
